Kukuchats is our nickname for our chatroom– Crazy Talks online. We want to make sure people who cannot attend in person can attend online.

To protect our community from online tracking and commercial surveillance, we host our own private server. Powered by Jitsi Meet, our chatroom setup delivers secure, encrypted video, audio, and text chat (used by Edward Snowden in the past). No sign–ups or accounts are required— just a private, accessible space to talk. Feel free to use a nickname, keep your camera off, or participate using text only (someone on the call can happily read your messages aloud).

For Best Results:

Computers: Open the meeting link directly in any modern browser like Brave, Firefox or Chrome. You can choose whether to share your mic or camera.

Smartphones and Tablets: For the best performance, download the free Jitsi Meet app for iOS or Android. When it's time to join, click our event link directly and choose "Open in App."

Text Chat: Click the Chat icon (bottom left) to open the text panel. Type your message and hit Enter.

Smooth Connection: If your video is choppy, try turning off your camera or lowering your video quality (click the Three Dots you see when you hover over the bottom of the screen select Manage video quality select Low Bandwidth). Muting your mic when not speaking also helps reduce noise.

Group Etiquette: Raise your virtual hand (hand icon) if everyone's talking and you'd like to speak. If someone's background noise is loud, you can hover over their video, click the Three Dots on their tile, and turn down their volume or select Mute for yourself.

Troubleshooting: If you get disconnected, simply refresh your page or re-click the meeting link. Still having trouble? Send us an email and we'll help you test your setup.

Why We Host Our Own Server:

Unlike corporate video tools that profit from user data and aggressive tracking, our independent server runs strictly open-source software on a private node in Toronto.

Traffic between your device and our server is encrypted using standard transport security (DTLS-SRTP and TLS). We do not keep logs, record meetings, or use commercial tracking scripts. By hosting the software ourselves, we eliminate third-party corporate access and keep our conversations as private as an in-person room.

Together, we can speak openly about our experiences, systemic coercions, or just Mad life in a sanist world, without sacrificing our privacy or safety online.
